Dorset-based broker targets expats with home cover Insurance

H&R Direct has joined forces with broker Hercules of Gibraltar to provide buildings and contents cover for buildings in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar. The policy - which is underwritten by Lloyd's - is offered by Hercules and has now been taken on to sub-broke by T&R Direct. Lee Taylor, managing director at T&R Direct, said: "The problem is if there's a claim expatriates still have to speak to someone [in another language] to repair it. "[With this policy] the client can speak to an English person when making a claim. "There's no longer a language barrier - they can do it directly with us. "And Hercules has given us the ability to wholesale it back in the UK." Hercules initially launched in August 2010 by issuing household insurance policies to British expatriates in Spain and Portugal, before extending its offerings to Greece and Gibraltar. Hercules director, Rob Katzaros, added: "Our discussions with brokers tell us that there is a strong demand among their clients for an easy to understand, comprehensive product that can cover their entire risk profiles". "By offering this product through our e-trading platform we are responding to this demand in a cost-effective and efficient manner, together with an English speaking claims service, this makes our product a market must have."
